2020 ~ 2021

COVID-19 팬더믹이 지속됨에 따른 사회적상황들 속에서, 작가는 무엇을 할 수 있으며 어떻게 생존해 나갈 수 있는가에 관한 전시들을 기획 하였다.

In response to the prolonged social conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, I curated exhibitions examining what an artist can do and how an artist might survive.

<LAB> Traart gallery, Seoul, 2021.10~11

 <LAB>은 2022년, 코로나 팬더믹 이후 제작한 작품들을 펼쳐두고 새로운 방향성에 대한 연구를 천명한 전시이다. 코로나 팬데믹기간 동안 드로잉-페인팅을 포함 총 1,180점의 작품을 제작하였다. 

In 2022, this exhibition presented works produced after the COVID-19 pandemic and declared a commitment to researching a new direction in my practice. During the pandemic period, I produced a total of 1,180 works, including drawings and paintings. 

<mRNA>

<mRNA> Online 전시기간동안 관객이 재생산한 이미지. 이 행위는 화면을 통해 공개된 작가가 곧 작품이 되는 개념으로서 향후 작품제작의 방향성을 찾는데 중요한 전환점이 된다.

Images reproduced by viewers during the online exhibition period of mRNA. This act marked a crucial turning point in my practice, framing the publicly mediated artist as the artwork itself and informing the future direction of my work. 

<mRNA>전시는 코로나 펜더믹으로 인해 고착화된 사회적 거리두기, 미술관 폐쇄, 국경 봉쇄등의 상황에서 참여 작가가 각자의 적응방식을 제시하는 성격을 지닌다.

The exhibition <mRNA> addressed the conditions of social distancing, museum closures, and border restrictions solidified by the COVID-19 pandemic, presenting the participating artists’ individual modes of adaptation.

<지금은 만날 수 없어요> 전시는 2020년 3월 WHO의 팬더믹 선언 이후 사회적 거리두기와 자가격리, 확진자 추적 시스템이 도입된 사회에서 미술가는 어떻게 자신의 그림을 전시 할 수 있을까에 대한 질문에서 기획한 프로젝트이다. 전시장소는 확진자의 이동 동선이 겹치는 곳의 미술품 수장고에서, 자정~다음날로 넘어가는 시간대에 전시를 하며 오로지 SNS  Live로만  작품을 송출하고 그것들을 관람 할 수 있게 하였다. 

Conceived after the WHO’s declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, <The Distancing> examined how artists might exhibit their work within a society defined by social distancing, self-quarantine, and contact-tracing systems. The exhibition was held overnight in an art storage facility located along routes associated with confirmed cases’ movements, and was accessible solely through live streaming on social media.

<Project Qurantine> 은 COVID가 발발하고 처음 '자가격리' 라는 단어가 통용되던 2020년 2월, 두 명의 작가가 정해진 공간에서만 생활 하며 어떤 일들과 작품들이 만들어지는 가에 관한 실험적 프로젝트 이다.

<Project Quarantine> is an experimental project initiated in February 2020, when the term “self-quarantine” first came into common use following the outbreak of COVID-19. The project examines what kinds of events and artworks emerge when two artists live and work within a strictly defined space.
